Personal Interests

Dr. Bianchi enjoys a vacation home in the mountains of western Maryland where he meets with friends and family for weekends and holidays when he is off call. Motorcycling is one of his favorite hobbies. He likes to travel and visits third world countries to provide humanitarian medical care for at least one week every year. His humanitarian trips have been to Ecuador, Colombia, Honduras, Dominican Republic and Kenya.

Biography

Dr. Bianchi graduated from the University of Vermont and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. His internship and residency were completed in the U.S. Navy at Oakland Naval Hospital and National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. He holds professorships at George Washington and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and teaches medical students and surgical residents in his practice. Dr. Bianchi is a CAPTAIN in the United States Naval Reserve and has completed 36 years of service to our nation in the medical corps, most of them at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is also a faculty member and clinician at the National Institutes of Health in the National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders. There, he evaluates and treats patients with rare diseases, cancers, and immunodeficiency disorders.

Dr. Bianchi has been in private practice in Montgomery County and has attended at all of the local hospitals since 1992. He is currently on staff at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, NIH, and Walter Reed. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Medical Association, and the Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Bianchi has taught extensively on the topics of Diving Medicine and Sleep Disorders. He is a very busy surgeon and performs over 250 major surgical procedures per year.
